On-site event in collaboration with International House Oulu and OSKE

Time: Wednesday, November 5th at 12:00–15:30
Place: Oulu City Hall, Kirkkokatu 2a, 90100 Oulu / Room 354 (3rd floor) – you will be guided from the lobby / On-site event, no web broadcast

Welcome to an insightful session designed to help job seekers understand and navigate the distinctive features of Finnish work life and recruitment culture. In this session, we’ll take a closer look at what makes Finnish professional environments unique—from the emphasis on trust, equality, and quiet competence to the understated communication style that shapes how people present themselves in the workplace and in job applications.

You’ll gain valuable insights into what Finnish employers expect in CVs and cover letters, and how to approach self-marketing in a way that feels both confident and culturally appropriate. We’ll explore how to express your skills and experience clearly and credibly, without losing authenticity or falling into the trap of overstatement.

Whether you’re new to Finland or simply looking to refine your approach, this session will help you tailor your personal brand to local expectations and communicate your professional value in a way that truly resonates.

Our trainer for this on-site afternoon session is Education Manager Mervi Tikkanen, Cimson Koulutuspalvelut.
